Neo Gothic West Coast Japanese
Born into a family of artists, Louie Page has been drawing for as long as he can remember. What started as a fun hobby in his childhood grew into a true passion when he discovered the hip-hop scene in high school. It was through graffiti that Louie first realized the power of art and the paths it could open — it was the first time he saw how far his creativity could really take him.
Tattooing was always in the back of his mind, but it wasn’t until 2012 at the Vancouver Tattoo Convention that he finally decided to make it real. After getting turned down by multiple artists when trying to buy his first machine (back when finding tattoo equipment wasn’t easy), Louie eventually found someone willing to give him a shot — and he hasn’t looked back since.
Finding an apprenticeship in Vancouver proved tough, but an old friend from his high school days offered to teach him the ropes in Kelowna. Louie packed up, crashed on the couch, and planned to stay just a couple of years. Those two years turned into ten, and after honing his skills and developing his own signature style, he made his way back home to Vancouver. Now proudly part of the Monkey King crew, Louie is living his dream — making a living doing what he loves every single day.
Now back in East Vancouver and proud to call Monkey King his home base, Louie specializes in large-scale custom work across a variety of styles, from realistic to illustrative and everything in between. His main focus is a heavy, distinctive style he calls Neo-Gothic West Coast Japanese shit — a raw fusion of traditional Japanese themes, West Coast influence, and dark gothic undertones. Every piece he creates is built to be bold, personal, and one-of-a-kind.
